With ten hours of sunlight each day, the weather should be mostly clear aside from the occasional, short-lived rain shower. Evenings are usually mild to cool, requiring light layers, such as a sports coat, jacket, or cardigan.

casual or smart casual attire is recommended.
Other events and activities are more relaxed. Barcelona is a very walkable city, so be sure to pack comfortable shoes, as well as appropriate activewear, hats, and sunglasses for your chosen outdoor activities.

TRANSPORTATION SAFETY TIPS

Barcelona is generally a safe city, but like any popular destination, pickpockets can be found in busy areas, such as El Raval and areas of the Gothic Quarter, or on public transportation.

Pickpockets usually work in teams of two or three people. Always be aware of possible distractions staged by a pickpocket team. Pickpockets may drop something in front of you or cause a loud commotion near you to draw your attention. Once distracted, the other pickpocket will steal your valuables and walk away.

Leave valuables and important papers—such as jewelry and passports—secured in your hotel room’s safe. Always keep cash, credit cards, and keys with you.

Never carry your wallet in your rear pants pocket. Front pants or jacket pockets are advisable. If you carry a purse or shoulder bag, make certain it is securely closed and hold it in front of you or close to your body.

For solo travelers, use common sense. Avoid being alone in dark, deserted areas and poorly lit streets.

Learn about and be aware of your surroundings. Ask the hotel desk clerk, concierge, or bell staff about problem areas to avoid.

Do not advertise you are a tourist. Before departing from your hotel or other destination, identify the location you want to visit and check maps thoroughly to plan your routes and clearly understand where you are going.

Use only recognized ground-transportation services available at authorized bus, van, limousine, and taxi pickup points.
